Research shows that yoga helps to heal the impact of trauma

by restoring the regulatory functions of the brain via the body.

Triangle Yoga in Chapel Hill is offering a weekly Trauma-Sensitive Yoga

session class that will start will start up again in the fall and run for 6-8 weeks.

To ensure the privacy of the students, the days and times are not advertised.

The classes are designed to help participants feel comfortable in their bodies,

to learn self-regulation skills, and to improve their ability to direct attention away from

ruminative thought processes, in a safe, supportive and peaceful environment.

    * The classes are open to women only,

women who are survivors of any type of traumatic experience.  

      

    * No Yoga experience is necessary.

    * We will strive to make the classes accessible to everybody regardless of physical ability.

    * All students must be in individual psychotherapy and must meet with the

instructor for a screening/intake prior to the first class.

The cost of the 8-class session is $160. Screening/intake appointments are $45.

Deborah Klinger, M.A., LMFT, is a psychotherapist, Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy

practitioner and certified Yoga Instructor who has completed a Trauma-Sensitive

Yoga Teaching Certificate Program through the Trauma Center at JRI in Boston, MA.
