Restorative Yoga is accessible to anyone, and all poses can be adapted to accommodate physical limitations.
This ancient practice has taught us that when you surrender to the comfort and support of simple floor poses (blankets, bolsters etc), deep rest begins to occur and the nervous system becomes quiet. When the body’s stress levels drop, it moves towards - rather than surrendering to homeostasis, allowing a state of self-healing.
This is the most effective yoga practice for anyone recovering from an illness or injury, and will help relieve (as well as prevent) the unhealthy effects of stress as you move towards wellness, relaxation, rejuvenation and balance.

Paula Huffman, BS, RN, ERYT, CCE started practicing yoga in the mid 70’s. She now has a committed personal yoga and meditation practice that has evolved since that time. Combining her life’s work experience in the health care field with her yoga teaching, Paula’s focus is on the healing and restorative aspects of yoga through the development of both physical and spiritual awareness. Her style of teaching encourages a quiet, gentle, reflective approach to asana with the belief that yoga can be adapted to meet students needs regardless of any limitations they may be experiencing. Paula is also perinatal educator and teaches prenatal and postpartum yoga, mommy baby yoga, couples yoga in pregnancy, prepared childbirth classes and is trained as a doula. She studied with Jon Kabat Zinn at the Center for Mindfulness at the University of Mass, and teaches Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction and Pain Management Classes at the UNC School of Medicine’s Program on Integrative Medicine. She received her 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training in 2001 and has specialty certifications in Restorative Yoga, Perinatal Fitness, and Prepared Childbirth Education.
