with Stephen Sheikhli

Mudras are gestures that use the hands or other parts of the body, and Hasta Mudra is a gesture specifically for the hands. These ancient tools awaken and direct energy to different parts of the body and can be incorporated into every part of your yoga practice, including meditation, pranayama, and asana.

By extending, bending and crossing our fingers in a prescribed manner, we have in our hands a means to release stress, improve concentration, and heal and rejuvenate body, mind and spirit.

During this workshop, you will practice a range a Mudras that can be used to support health and healing, enhance the performance of yoga asana, and be a valuable tool in meditation.

No previous experience is necessary.

Appropriate for all levels, with modifications offered.

Stephen Sheikhli was a very inflexible marathon runner before struggling through his first yoga class in 2007.  A year later, he became a 200-hour certified yoga instructor through YogaWorks, hosted by Triangle Yoga in Chapel Hill NC. Since then, he has taught at numerous studios and corporate gyms in the Raleigh area. His classes follow the YogaWorks style in their blend of flow plus Iyengar-based alignment, but they add influences drawn from the workshops of the many master teachers Stephen has studied with over the years, including Gabriel Halpern, Doug Keller and Ray Long. When not teaching, Stephen practices various styles of Hatha Yoga and works as a freelance editor.
