Take your yoga practice off the mat and into the air!

AERIAL YOGA

WORKSHOPS

with Rebecca Drake

This practice is uniquely developed for beginners through all levels of experience.

Aerial Yoga differs from Aerial Dance in that it remains closer to the ground and supports all your yoga postures on a suspended Hammock. Aerial Yoga combines traditional Yoga with the training of an Aerialist.  Suspending your body from aerial hammocks elongates your spine, frees-up physical compression for healthier joint mobilization, and also develops tremendous upper body and core strength.

All workshops are $30 when pre-paid and

$40 to drop-in (if room is available)

Space is limited to 8 students

AERIAL YOGA FOUNDATIONS

Saturdays Jan 13-20, 2018 at 1pm-2:15

Aerial Yoga Foundations is series of 2-3 classes each which will take you from aerial basics through more challenging (yet fun!) inversions and sequences, designed specifically to introduce the art and practice of Aerial Yoga from the ground up. Utilizing an intelligent and progressive series of classes you will learn to confidently use the hammock to support your body both on the floor and in the air. Taking the time needed, we will cover the fundamental postures of the practice. This class opens the door for you to take our other aerial yoga classes with the support of understanding what you are doing and the benefits therein. Aerial Yoga is a fun and accessible class for all bodies. We welcome you to come! This series is for beginners or anyone who wants a refresher in the fundamentals of the practice. No experience necessary, feel free to call with any questions; 919-933-9642.

INTRO TO AERIAL YOGA

no experience necessary

Saturday Jan 6, 1pm-2:30pm

For newcomers!

INTRO TO AERIAL YOGA is a uniquely developed practice for beginners through all levels of experience that combines traditional yoga postures with the basic training of an aerialist. With the weight of the body supported, students learn how to achieve proper postural alignment through relaxation rather than effort, enhancing a relaxed and peaceful state of mind as well. Challenging traditional yoga postures, such as inversions and deep back bends, can be achieved without effort or strain with the use of the Aerial Yoga fabric. Deep muscle releases achieved in the air allow students to explore much deeper stretches in their traditional yoga postures on the floor. Common yoga related injuries caused by over stretching the shoulders and compression in the lower back are addressed through exercises that strengthen shoulders without compromising flexibility, and by strengthening core abdominal muscles without compression of the spine.
