During that time she also became involved with the Haight Ashbury Play Program for Youth in San Francisco, working with high-risk children up to the age of sixteen. She also worked with the AmeriCorps Project, the San Diego Natural History Museum, and The Resource Conservation District to provide urban elementary aged children with school vegetable gardens and environmental education programs.
